Los Fieros Furnacios at Mercury Lounge
By Alexis Swerdloff
Last night, I attended a "secret" Fiery Furnaces show at Mercury Lounge. It was really special and cool to see one of my favorite bands in such an intimate setting. Woo! Even if the crowd was a little on the staid side. They played all songs off their new album (out Oct. 8) Widow City save for one, "Evergreen." The newbies are pretty insane -- three of our favorites (which they played) are "Clear Signal From Cairo," "Ex-Guru" and "My Egyptian Grammar." Several things about the show:
1. I bought the T-shirt pictured above. Isn't that awesome?
2. My friend Laura noticed that Eleanor was sporting a wedding ring -- could she and longtime boyfriend, Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos, have tied the knot??
From the new album: "Duplexes of the Dead" -- Fiery Furnaces (Widow City)
An old chestnut: "Waiting to Know You" -- Fiery Furnaces (Blueberry Boat)

is there anyway where a mere commoner like myself can purchase this shirt?
