GIVE A SHOUT TO WORD UP! wordup@papermag.com

Word of Mouth

Intern-al Affairs: Meet Eloise Ress Barrow

By PAPERMAG Editors

Eloise Ress BarrowName: Eloise Ress Barrow

Age: 19

Position: Intern

Hometown: Manhattan!

School and Major: Emerson College, majoring in Writing, Literature, and Publishing (it’s one major)

Facebook or MySpace: Facebook. Sooo sick of MySpace.

Fave Blog: Papermag. (Swear I’m not advertising for PAPER, I just don’t read any other blogs)

Fave Designer: Betsey Johnson for sure. Love her spunk.

Best thing about interning at PAPER: Photo shoots.

The Worst: Excel spreadsheets.

Fave PAPER Cover: December/January 2006 - Zac Posen cover. Looove that photograph.

Fave PAPER person and why: Michelle Lindsay because she gives me free shit in return for doing everything she asks for.

Where do you see yourself in five years: Living in NYC. Doing what, I don’t know.

Fave free things you do in NYC:
Free? Ha...

Fave Boutique: Big fan of Intermix, just wish most of their stuff wasn’t $200+. For cheap finds I love Mystique, and for great patterns there is this Asian vintage store on Thompson that is awesome.

Fave Restaurant: Hmm, so many to choose from. Place I order from the most: Ginger House (chinese on 7th between 28th and 29th). Place I eat at the most: La Bottega (probably because I work there). And place I really want to go back to: The Waverly.

Fave Bar: Oh to be 19 without a fake i.d.

First five songs that play when you set your iPod to shuffle (BE HONEST!):

1. Amy Winehouse - “Back to Black”
2. Greg Laswell - “Sing Theresa Says”
3. A-Ha - “Take on Me”
4. Bjork - “Bachelorette”
5. Montell Jordan - “This Is How We Do It”

Being a native New Yorker, what hidden gem would you recommend to out-of-towners who rarely stray from Times Square?
The place I order from all the time, Ginger House, has these incredible roast pork buns that are out of this world. I’ve had other buns and they just don’t compare. It might be unbearable to think about eating hot food during this heat wave but Ginger House is air conditioned so stop by, split an order and eat in comfort.

How can you not love excel spreadsheets?

And how about revealing some of the trendy Mexican eateries?

I think I saw this girl in a downtown organic lunch place. The man she was with was cute too!

I think his name is Scott. I wish I had gotten her internship though. Stars are blind!

I like how I'm reading your intern profile while I'm at my internship.
