Here it is, the one everyone's been talking about. Amy Winehouse's newest video for her single, "Tears Dry On Their Own," directed by well-known photographer/director David La Chapelle, and filmed on the infamous Hollywood Boulevard.

The only problem is that Amy is British, and famously so. Her 50's-60's tat is of that stripe as well. For LaChapelle to have her walking down Hollywood Blvd is a weak move, and feels like it was made for the squares. But we've all seen street freaks before, David. Far more interesting if he'd put her wandering at a fun fair in a rough, industrial UK town like Sheffield.

I disagree with "friendlier." Amy is indeed a British artist, but she is a star throughout the West. Mr. Lachapelle's delightful video contrast's Ms. Winehouse's immutably British style with street-level life in Los Angeles and is in fact more true to this North London-born young woman's life than a slumming trip up to Sheffield would have been. I commend it in the highest!
