No Money Shot for Shooter
By Dennis Dermody

Shooter is the new Paramount action thriller from Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) starring Mark Wahlberg as a former Marine scout sniper who gets framed for an assassination attempt on the President by a sordid network of government bad guys. When it operates on The Fugitive level it kind of works, but bogs down towards the end when it stops to expose the onion-like levels of rot operating covertly within the White House. The Fox TV show 24 has upped the ante for this kind of claptrap and is hard to top. This is decent, Wahlberg is shirtless (alas, with a gory bullet wound) but still, that’s entertainment.
Shooter opens on Friday.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS MOVIE ...? its as you said the Fugitive meets 24...have we not seen this story done abouty fifty ties already...? Mark Walberg earned my respect through out the years by becoming a decent actor in certain films but this is ridiculous.Paramount is going through their vault of classics and remaking them into hacked versions.I can deal with 24 ..I mean as ridiculous as it is...."NO ONE" ...can get through L.A. traffic in 10 minutes.....I am shamelessly watching season 5 at around 2 in the morning now that I hav all the episodes without commercials....but it does keep me coming back for more....I can see Walberg starring in the remake of McLintock ! in about 15 years ....but an updated version of course...
