Jack Spade Hardhats

By Kim Hastreiter

Jack-Spade2.JPG

Jack Spade, the groovy younger brother to the Kate Spade brand (run by Andy, Kate's husband!) is so hilarious sometimes. Not only does Jack Spade sell regular guy accessories, but they produce movies made by some of my favorite artists (read: Neistat Brothers) and publish really fun books. Check out this fun show featuring vintage motorcycle helmets that opened this week at the Jack Spade shop in SoHo (56 Greene Street). To complete the vibe, there's also photo exhibit by Matt Salacuse called "Weenie Bite," which documents a retarded contest held at motorcycle rallies where people riding bikes attempt to take a bite of a suspended hot dog. Biggest bite of hot dog wins, of course. Ya gotta love 'em.

Do you always have to use "retarded" to mean so many other things? I like your posts a lot, but I pause at that usage every single time you rely on it. (And you use it in this manner often, so that's a lot of pausing and wondering.)
