A Date With John Waters
By David Hershkovits
As well as being a director, writer, actor, artist and raconteur, John Waters is also a music fan with a vast knowledge of old songs, especially -- as you might not be surprised to discover -- if they're raunchy, suggestive or downright dirty. This has led him to compile a CD's worth of music called A Date With John Waters. The unexpected surprise of this recording is a new video, essentially a mad five-and-a-half-minute monologue in which he talks about the songs he has chosen all in the traditional Waters dead pan. From Patience and Prudence to Edith Massey to Tina Turner and beyond. But why go on, when you can listen to the master in his own words. More from Waters here.
