When we were little, we used to make our Barbie dolls Jacuzzis out of rinsed-out tuna cans. Thankfully, everything was much chicer than that at the opening of Mattel's Barbie: the Dream Closet installation at Lincoln Center last night. The space, which is done up in pink, pink and more more pink, celebrates the 53-year-old doll's fashions over the years and featured live models showing off the plastic icon's various looks from the 1950. There was also a fun "virtual closet" that let attendees browse through life-size digital images of all the fabulousness tucked into Barbie's closet. Make sure to also check out Maggie Dolan's recap of the Dream Closet opening here, in which Elle's Joe Zee says Barbie was his first styling client and actress Rose McGowan admits that she has her tailor knock off the doll's styles into human-sized clothing for herself.
