Years ago I scored a LeRoy Grannis photograph in a TriBeCa thrift store. Grannis, who died just last month at the age of 94, is arguably the most important photographer who documented the surfing world since the 1960s. Now in a throwback to the golden age of shredding waves, Band of Outsiders is releasing polo shirts screened with Grannis' iconic surf imagery. My inner Spicoli is making me order all three.
