Grizzly Bear
Shields (Warp)
By Alex Scordelis

With their 2009 LP Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear earned a legion of new admirers, and with Shields their bandwagon's about to get overcrowded. Lead-off track "Sleeping Ute" offers up a dose of sweeping operatic rock with more engaging twists and turns than Radiohead's "Paranoid Android." The sprawling seven-minute album closer "Sun In Your Eyes" showcases Ed Droste's melancholic vocals at their most confident.
