Last night I forgot all about the recession and shopped like it was 1999 at the Housing Works “Design on a Dime” benefit! Attendees included indie darling Parker Posey, fashion designer John Bartlett, Real Life Housewife of NYC, Alex McCord and her “macho man” Simon, Ty Pennington and my absolute favorite, Kelly Garrett aka Jacyln Smith!

The bargains were abundant, and you could by a gorgeous 1940’s $3,000 armoire from Jon Maroto’s Flair Home or a $25 beautiful duvet from Jaclyn Smith's line for Kmart! Jaclyn is very pretty and quite charming, just like she was on Charlie’s Angels. I was sad to find out that she’s not returning for a third season to Sheer Genius. Instead she’s taking vacation in June versus shooting all over L.A. with a bunch of hairdressers. I don’t blame you, Jaclyn!

Other vignettes included a kid friendly and stylish Nickelodeon room, a room designed by the uber prestigious design firm of Foley & Cox and a Country Living general store with “penny candy. It’s all for sale and funds housing for low income/homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

Also for sale is Housing Works' new interior design book, The Find by “The Elegant Thrifter” aka Stan Williams! The book is chock full of fab ideas and tips on how to decorate and entertain with thrift and vintage finds -- a MUST HAVE tutorial for how to be frugal yet chic!

Last night I had to pay $150 for the privilege to shop before YOU, but today and Saturday the event is FREE and open to the public!! Run don’t walk to the Metropolitan Pavillion, 125 W. 18th St., today and tomorrow, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
