In addition to being the season for short skirts, ice cream trucks
and weekend beach house visits, summer is also the season for gay pride.
Over the course of June and July across this ever-queerer country of
ours, cities are celebrating with parades, rallies and mostly... parties.
And while Harvey Milk started it all in San Francisco in the '70s, the
largest pride festivities in the US of Gay take place in New York. Over
a million people attended this past June's NYC Pride Parade stretching
from Fifth Avenue and 56th (where the haters still protest across from
St. Patrick's Cathedral) to Christopher Street in the West Village (home
of Stonewall, which celebrates 40 years since the birth of the Gay
Rights Revolution this year). To honor our queer sisters and brothers,
we gathered up some of our favorite, most outlandish New York queers for
