Actor Chris Evans's muscled physique, on display in films like Fantastic Four, has made him a cult figure on the Internet, but Evans claims he wasn't always so pec-tacular. Two years ago, he gave up being a vegetarian to get in shape. "I was looking like Christian Bale in The Machinist, and I had to change," Evans admits with a laugh. "I'm not against eating animals, but I felt the process of doing so could be done with a bit more respect. I still can't wrap my head around eating meat -- it's one of the contributing factors of my self-loathing but that's a whole other can of worms."

There is nothing loathsome about Evans's meteoric career. The Massachusetts native has gone from teen heartthrob to serious actor in the blink of an eye, graduating from mall flicks like Not Another Teen Movie to starring in director 1

Evans also has roles in The Nanny Diaries (as Scarlett Johansson's love interest) and the two Fantastic Four sequels. When not making girls swoon on-screen, he draws and paints for himself (he doesn't ever plan to show his art) and is learning to play golf. Though he lives in L.A., Evans is a true East Coast guy. "I am so not a California kid," he admits. "I'm not a fan of the ocean. I don't surf. I'd break my neck on a skateboard." Yet his latest obsession is indoor rock climbing. "I could find myself getting addicted to it." Audiences are finding that watching Evans is also highly addictive.
