Some people think the New York social scene is like high school. If it is, these cuties are the homecoming court. Although all are consummate professionals in their fields, they still know how to have fun. We asked each a few questions about what makes them so glamorous. Here is what we heard from them (from left to right):
DOUGLAS FREIDMAN
Occupation: photographer. "I shoot mostly architecture and interiors and portraits. What would you call that? As long as it sounds sexy, I'm good."
Why do you like to go out in NYC? " That you don't have to drive and going out still reminds me of high school."
How would you describe your fashion look? "Whatever is left hanging and isn't in a pile in the corner."
What's the best thing about being one of the most popular boys in NYC? "Are you kidding?"
BONNIE MORRISON
Occupation: fashion publicist
Why do you like to go out in NYC? "You're always seeing old friends as well as meeting new people -- it's a place where your world is as big as you want it to be."
How would you describe your fashion look? "There is a pretty eclectic group of women I think of as major style icons: sixties and seventies Tina Turner, Bianca Jagger, Kim Gordon and, if you can believe it, Donatella Versace. But my fashion fairy godmother might actually be Bea Arthur."
What's the best thing about being one of the most popular girls in NYC? "When I first moved here ten years ago, I would wonder if I would ever make a single friend. Now, everywhere I go, I see people I know and love. Live here long enough and eventually, you feel like a star."
NINA CLEMENTE
Occupation: anthropologist turned fashion designer
Why do you like to go out in NYC? "Because you never know what to expect, good or bad. I love dancing to The Box's live marching band."
How would you describe your fashion look? "Futuristic, color-coordinated."
What's the best thing about being one of the most popular girls in NYC? "Free gift bags I can hustle off on eBay."
LUIGI TADINI
Occupation: vice president of Tadini Jewelers
Why do you like to go out in NYC? "It's the only place in the world where crown princes, drag queens, bankers, whores, artists, skinheads and socialites play in harmony."
How would you describe your fashion look? "A mix between a young Mick Jagger and 40 year-old Cary Grant and perhaps a little Alain Delon -- is that asking too much?"
What's the best thing about being one of the most popular boys in NYC? "The fact that I've had the privilege of being invited to certain events and meeting incredible people.
ANTHONY FLORES
Occupation: VP of marketing for IRT DVD magazine
Why do you like to go out in NYC? "No matter what you're into, you can find it on any given night.
How would you describe your fashion look? "Euro metro spiced with vintage hip-hop."
