on the front lines of cultural chaos since 1984.
Artist Richard Phillips' arresting, large scale, hyper-realistic paintings of young movie stars have reached icon status. His films (described as "motion portraits"), Sasha Grey and Lindsay Lohan, premiered at the Venice Biennale in 2011 and his most recent film, First Point, a film noir featuring Lohan and pro-surfer Kassia Meador, premiered at Art Unlimited at Art Basel Switzerland in June. Tonight, a solo show featuring Phillips' films, as well as new work inspired by said films, opens at New York's Gagosian Gallery, and touches on themes of "self-awareness and interdependence." Below, take a gander at his portraits of Sasha Grey and Lindsay Lohan that will be unveiled this evening.
