Having met as kids in Hailey, Idaho, Gus Wenner and Scout Willis grew up on opposite coasts before re-connecting in Providence, Rhode Island when both were students at Brown University. They immediately clicked. Re-kindling their childhood friendship, the two, who come from prestigious pedigrees (Gus is the son of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner and Scout is the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore), soon started playing music together and realized they shared the same sensibilities, which veered towards bluesy, folk rock with a dash of country. An independent study course at Brown where the duo focused on writing and performing songs and a string of gigs in New York City followed and now, before Scout heads back to Providence for her senior year (Gus graduated this past spring), they'll release their self-titled debut EP on August 28th, which features a collection of five tracks they recorded in Rhinebeck, New York.Take a listen below to one such track, "Big Love From Big Sur," an emotional, twangy country-folk song featuring Scout and Gus sharing vocals and Gus playing guitar.
