Word of Mouth

Parsing through today's crop of new music videos, we were surprised to see a clip from Bob Dylan among the usual smattering of indie rock, pop and hip-hop vids.  In the singer's "Duquesne Whistle," directed by Nash Edgerton, we watch a cute young man try to impress a girl who's just not feeling it.  His attempts go horribly wrong and lead to unforeseen personal disasters and, if you're wondering where Dylan fits into all of this, well, you're probably left still wondering once the video is over: the folk legend appears walking around the streets joined by a peculiar posse of tough guys and maybe a call girl or two -- almost like the archetypal narrator or oracle, watching with aloofness over this whole Greek drama.  Check it out above.

"Duquesne Whistle" appears on Dylan's forthcoming 35th studio album, Tempest, out September 11 via Columbia.
