Word of Mouth

Welcome to Trailer Trash, highlighting the best, worst and so-so in new movie trailers.

Hello I Must Be Going, directed by Todd Louiso, features Melanie Lynskey (Up in the Air, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as a recent divorcee who has moved in with her parents (Blythe Danner and John Rubinstein) and who further complicates things by taking up with a 19-year-old (Girls star Christoper Abbott). This film got some nice press at Sundance earlier this year and it looks smart and funny and we're probably going to see it when it comes out September 7th, but also, let's stop having women fall down in movies to convey lovable klutziness and/or general ineptness/messiness/what-are-we-going-do-with-her-ness. (See Mindy Kaling's guide to women in film for the New Yorker for more on this archetype.) Lynskey's character screams in frustration when she falls, and we kind of felt the same way. The good news, however, is that Christopher Abbott still looks hot in your dad's bifocals. Check it out above.
