There's been a lot of weirdness surrounding the Kristen Stewart cheating story. This includes the fact that Stewart issued a public apology to her boyfriend Robert Pattinson (with whom she does not have kids) as well as this photo Instagrammed right before the story went public by Rupert Sanders' wife, Liberty Ross, of a crying Snow White drinking beer. Ross, who is 33 and has two kids with Sanders, added the caption, "Not so pretty or so pure after all ....." (There are not enough over-the-top eyerolls in the world for this story and we're only on day three.) But the most bizarre detail to come forward in this huge scandal about a 22-year-old making a dumb decision is this line from US Weekly's story-breaking expose:
On set, Stewart would show up to watch him direct stunt work, and traveled to shoot exterior forest scenes that didn't include her. Sanders even gave [Stewart] a copy of Joan of Arc to inspire her, which he never read himself. "We had a lot of conversations seeing through her eyes," Sanders later said. "She's made incredibly shrewd decisions for someone's who's half my age."
He didn't even read the book? Did Bill Clinton give Monica Lewinsky the CliffsNotes version of Leaves of Grass? If you're going to pull the 'Older guy in a position of power giving a fresh-faced ingenue a book that will inspire her'-schtick, at least have paged through the thing yourself. Next time, Sanders should play it safe with a quicker read like Le Petit Prince or even the slightly denser two-volume edition of The Complete Far Side: 1980-1994.
