A$AP Rocky's crew, the A$AP Mob, just came out with a new ominously-sounding track, "Bath Salt," featuring the all-too appropriately named rappers Flatbush Zombies and production by P On The Boards. The dark, violent lyrics remind us of another hip-hop collective -- that would be L.A.'s Odd Future -- and include lines like "I'm a demon, triple beaming, painting pictures, raping Mona Lisa." That said, the zombie-theme, over-the-top lines, and wink wink aspect of the track's title make the whole production ultimately less disturbing than one might think.
This is the first official track from A$AP Mob, although it's unclear if it will be included on the collective's forthcoming album. Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky's upcoming LP, Long Live A$AP, is expected to come out on September 11th and, speaking to us earlier this month at the Pitchfork Music Fest, the MC was not shy about hyping the project. "My album's gonna be wavy. Expect the unexpected. Basically, it's everything I've been working on and they know what to expect with me but this time, I'm really gonna hit them on the head." And there you have it.
