Poets House Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge: The annual poets house benefit and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight at 1 Center Street and ends at Fulton Ferry with a sunset reading of Walt Whitman's "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry" by Galway Kinnell. Better yet, Bill Murray (as in Bill Murray) and Marie Howe are also participating in the walk. The whole thing ends with dinner at a nearby restaurant. (P.S. This costs $250. But if you're a high roller -- dinner with Bill Murray is totally worth it.) [VillageVoice]

The Pruitt Igoe Myth at BAM: A screening of Chad Friedrichs' striking documentary about the much discussed Pruitt-Igoe houses in St. Louis, which were built in the 50s and towrn down a mere 20 years later. Friedrichs explores the various racial and economic issues behind the building's razing as well as telling the stories of the people who lived in the building. Screening followed by a panel with Friedrichs and urban development experts. [BAM]
