Music Doc New York at Hotel Americano
The hotel will be hosting a slew of DJs, VJs, photographers and filmmakers as part of the Swedish Independent Music and Film Festival. The coolest part about this event is that it's both a rooftop and basement party; you can head to the roof and watch directors Teddy Goitom's and Benjamin Taft's screening of their documentary Stocktown X South Africa about the modern street style and music of South Africa and then down to the basement for a dance party. The Cribs at Santos Party House
Hailing from England, garage-rock band The Cribs have been through some impressive band changes. Consisting permanently of twin brothers, Gary and Ryan Jarmon and their younger brother Ross, the band picked up a fourth member, Johnny Marr, the former Smiths and Modest Mouse guitarist, for a brief time. David Jones of Nine Black Alps has replaced him since. The band will perform at Santos Party House with supporting acts Alex Winston and Devin. [via Flavorpill]

Dan Bejar's been making well-received indie-rock for over 15 years, during which, according to this Denver Westword interview with Bejar, Destroyer's sound has grown from "high-art poetry rock" to "goblin rock." We'd say it's more along the lines of jazz-influenced, mellow pop but, sure, "goblin rock" works too. [via Flavorpill]

Sophia Knapp at Bootleg
