The Flaming Lips are embarking on a quest to break the Guinness Book of World Records title for Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (Multiple Cities) by going on a massive, 24-hour tour from June 27-June 28. They'll be playing 8 shows in 8 cities in the South (stops include Memphis, TN; Jackson, MS; and New Orleans, LA) as part of the O Music Awards. Staten Island is getting an artsy makeover this Saturday, June 23rd, as part of the Lumen 2012 International Video and Performance Festival. 50 artists will head to NYC's most underappreciated borough to transform 150,000 tons of road salt left over from the unseasonably warm winter into sculptures, projection screens and installations. Video artists such as Marco Brambilla, Alex Prager and Christine Davis will be projecting their work on these massive structures as well as on derelict buildings and cargo containers along the SI waterfront.
