PAPER
on the front lines of cultural chaos since 1984.
The Urban Bear Street Festival, in which thousands of Bears head to the Meatpacking District for "an afternoon of male bonding, New York style" took over Little West 12th Street Sunday. PAPERMAG photographer Henny Garfunkel happened to be walking by and stopped to take these photos. Per Henny:

The whole street was abuzz with bears of various sorts and their numerous admirers. It felt a bit like old New York and the Bears certainly turned a few heads at the nearby entrance to the Standard Hotel's beer garden. It was great to see this subculture out and about strutting their distinctive styles.
