American Idol may be slipping in the TV ratings, but this week one of the shows finalists replaces another at the top of the pop album chart. Yes, Adam Lambert's latest, Trespassing, replaces Carrie Underwood at #1 and becomes his first #1 album and the seventh Idol finalist to reach the top. Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Glass) goes in at #5 (watch their super-phallic album cover art get reviewed by our Carlo McCormick here) and Beach House made it into the top 40 for the first time as their Bloom LP goes in at #7. And, finally, somebody pushed Gotye out of #1 on the digital singles chart. Congrats to "Call Me Maybe" and business-card-meme-generator Carly Rae Jepsen for reaching the top. [Via Billboard]
