Animal Collective have come out with a new 7-inch single featuring two tracks, "Honeycomb" and "Gotham."  Both songs feature the band's now signature combination of traditional instrumentals with experimental noise -- lots of electronic plinks and whirs -- but whereas one ("Honeycomb") shows off an uptempo progression, the other ("Gotham") is decidedly woozier.  In case you're wondering what the band's been up to since 2009's massive full-length, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Animal Collective produced Transverse Temporal Gyrus for Record Store Day, an LP featuring a collage of material from their 2010 performances at the Guggenheim Museum in collaboration with Danny Perez. Although it's nearly impossible to get a hold of that limited release, you can satiate your AC need with these enjoyable new tracks above.
