What will Cali girls be wearing this summer? It goes beyond daisy dukes and bikinis on top (that Katy Perry song was two years ago, anyway). The annual music party in the desert, the Coachella Arts and Music Festival, usually offers an indication, though. We saw the feather thing, the high-waisted shorts look and even the maxi dress resurgence donned by trend-setters way, way before any of these styles got to the masses or in the malls.  And certain looks are seen so frequently that you can't help but take notice... it's like the cool chicks all get the same memo or something!

The party scene at Coachella is in many ways an even better forecaster for frock rocking than the festival itself. After all, gals can wear whatever they want and don't have to consider the heat and hiking through the festival grounds. Plus, the abundant pool parties are the best testing grounds for a hot, new skimpy summer look.

At the brand new Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs, Dub Frequency and Flaunt hosted some colorful crowds (almost as colorful as the hotel!) like the eclectic group found at the "A Club Called Rhonda -- Queen of the Desert" bash.  The next day, similar -- if more stream-lined -- looks were seen at the Lacoste party held at a private ranch in Indio.  Click through our slideshow to see examples of crochet lace, sheer tops and bottoms, polka-dots, grandma florals, faded crazy-colored hair, massive hats, shirts as dresses, and, of course, LOTS AND LOTS of outrageous color.
