For so many of us nowadays, news comes courtesy of Twitter and that's why we're bringing you a new feature looking at what's trending across the country and around the world. Each day we'll highlight a new batch of cities and a new batch of odds and ends having their (sometimes brief) moment on the news feed.

Portland: Posterous
Twitter has acquired the micro-blogging and content sharing site; social media interns everywhere forced to learn it.

Los Angeles: Rebekah Brooks
Police have arrested former News International chief executive on charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.  Fashion police not far behind.

Phoenix: Navajo Cops
The National Geographic Channel show follows a 330-person force of law enforcement officers on a Navajo reservation.  Maybe plotlines will provide good comic material for SNL's Billy Smith

Minneapolis: Lindzi
The Bachelor's Ben Flajnik passes over contestant Lindzi Cox in favor of "mean girl" Courtney Robertson.  Fans Girls throw up their hands in frustration and reach for a second helping of Ben & Jerry's.

Chicago: Trump Tower
Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose purchased $2.8 million condo in Chicago's Trump Tower and will be neighbors with Blackhawks player Patrick Kane.  No word whether they'll start borrowing each other's muscle milk and babysitting each other's pets.

New York: Jennifer Lawrence
Actress looks statuesque at The Hunger Games premiere in custom Prabal Gurung gown.
Unfortunately co-star Josh Hutcherson looks downright Lilliputian by comparison.
