PAPER
Word of Mouth
Artist Agathe Snow's "I like it here. Don't you?" opens tomorrow night at Maccarone Gallery, and we're marking the occasion with these photos from Snow's studio featuring a few of the  trippy paper-mâché and fiberglass sculptures to be featured in the installation. Per the show's press release, the sculptures, which were inspired by Victorian optical toys like the Thaumatrope, "are allegorical, ranging from the thrill-seeking to slow-moving: from a spit ball fight between school children, a scuffle between Mary Poppins and Santa Claus, to the leisurely acts of catching butterflies in a net, fishing, and watering flowers. Each scene is a part of Snow's representation of 'purgatory,' a present, which loops infinitely, and where hope is the artificial light at the end of the tunnel."

Snow's show has an opening reception tomorrow night with artist Eli Hansen from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be on display through April 28th.
