Word of Mouth
sikiimjoshmadden4.jpgYesterday, designer Siki Im -- known for his innovative silhouettes and meticulous craftmanship -- took a break from putting the finishing touches on his Fall 2012 collection (which shows tonight), and working on the runway mix with DJ Josh Madden, to chat about his new collection.

How would you describe your process of creating?

Usually, it's never linear. It's a feeling, a memory, an emotion. And there are a lot of different things. I let it sink in for a couple of months, and see if it's valid and something I should explore further. It can be from a newspaper article, a scene from a movie or a social or political occurrence.

The creative process is involved and stressful. How are you calm right now? Is there a certain way you prepare?

I trying to be healthy -- I drink lots of water, meditating. I try not to freak out.

What are your inspirations for this season?

Jean Baudrillard and Michael Jordan.

Who do you picture wearing your clothes?

Everyone who doesn't want to be a celebrity.

You have an adorable Brussels Griffon named Bill. Will she be watching?

No, unfortunately not. She gets too excited, and she flirts too much.

Are there any theatrics in store for the show?

You will see.
