Politicians Got Talent: 10 Greatest Singing Moments In Political History
By Abby Schreiber
Regardless of one's politics, it's pretty hard to deny these days that President Obama is a badass (and hot): he nabbed Bin Laden and he's a crooner who can hit Al Green's falsetto notes. Now that new videos are out of Hotbama singing "Sweet Home Chicago" alongside B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Mick Jagger at a White House Blues event, PAPERMAG decided to take a look back at Politicians' Greatest (and By "Greatest" We Mean Mostly Incredibly Awkward) Singing Moments.
Obama Sings "Sweet Home Chicago": Here's the footage from the event last night. While not as surprising as when he first belted out "I'm so in love with you" (we still swoon at the image), it's an impressive rendition indeed (not to mention the potential stage fright of singing with B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Mick).

Romney Sings America the Beautiful: Romney quoting from "America the Beautiful" has become a recurring feature in his stump speech but here he finally ventures to sing and it's...not so different from him speaking.
Herman Cain Sings Pizza Song to the Tune of The Beatles' "Imagine": We never took him seriously and this didn't help either. BUT! He has a really good point that a world with no pizza would be a terrible place.
President Obama Sings Al Green's "Let's Stay Together": No, President Obama, after watching this, we're so in love with you.
Ronald Reagan Joins an A Capella Group in Singing Eureka College's Alma Mater: Though Reagan's getting an honorary degree at George Washington University, that doesn't stop one of the school's a capella groups from harmonizing with the Gipper during the singing of his former college's alma mater.
John Ashcroft Sings "Let the Eagle Soar": As my colleague said, this would never happen nowadays. Also -- this footage is only from 2002.
Bill Clinton Sings The Beatles' "Imagine" in Israel: Leave it to Slick Willy to do back-up duty and manage to upstage a chorus full of children and a beautiful Israeli singer.
Senator Orrin Hatch Composes and Sings an "Eight Days of Hanukkah" Song: We don't really get why the Mormon Hatch composed and recorded this but it's pretty funny--check out his behind-the-scenes facial expressions!
Dennis Kucinich Sings "Sixteen Tons": He has a surprisingly good voice too! So folksy!
The Singing Senators Sing "Elvira": So back in the heady 9'0s there was a barbershop quartet called The Singing Senators comprised of Trent Lott, Larry Craig (remember him?!), John Ashcroft and Jim Jeffords. Apparently they held rehearsals in Lott's office and were just as bitchy and jealous as any quartet of divas could be.
