Jeremy Laing F/W '12 Was David Byrne Chic
By Marcus Holmlund
Canadian designer Jeremy Laing looked to have been listening to a lot of Talking Heads lately, even if his runway show's soundtrack was set to Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees inside a Chelsea gallery space earlier today. Just see his latest Edwardian-toned collection, featuring oversized, shoulder-padded blazers and capelets and you'll get some serious David Byrne vibes. (Well, maybe more Byrne on a rainy day.) The shapes, this time around, culminated toward the top of each model, working their slender silhouettes into a wide, overblown frame. With his usual spectrum of aged earth tones and architectural construction in tow, he worked in monochromatic
floral and chain prints, giving the collection a somber but endearing vision.
