At Catherine Malandrino's presentation earlier today, guests wandered among rows of models at the Eyebeam Art + Technology Center as if in a museum, pressing their faces inches away from the clothes as if they were being shown on display mannequins instead of living, breathing women. The 41 models were awash in patent leather, mesh and jewel tones -- all black, hot pink, royal blue and emerald green. Malandrino's inspiration for the dazzling collection, which she dubbed "La Feline," was "the transformation of a day woman into a catwoman," she told PAPERMAG.

Given that tonight is The Grammys, we were curious whether Malandrino would tune in to see the (typically) wilder award show fashions. "I don't know. You know, I'm quite exhausted," Malandrino said. "But I enjoy the Grammys and think it's very interesting to know what [the artists] are wearing."  As for whose outfits she was most excited to see, Malandrino was diplomatic:  "I'm very friendly with a lot of them," she said.  But when pressed for specifics, the designer cited her love for "Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé and Katy Perry," adding, "These are the women that I really feel are directional today."  And what does she make of newcomer and controversy-magnet, Lana Del Rey and her scrutinized style?  "Uhh...interesting," she replied before her face quickly lit up as a new idea popped into her head.  "Minaj, I love!  I love Nicki Minaj!"
