Riding high of his recent
CFDA win,
Joseph Altuzarra showed an immaculate collection yesterday at La Venue. Inspired by "
Corto Maltese," the Italian comic strip character from the 1970s (he was a sailor, his mom was his gypsy and his dad was Venetian), the collection featured a mish-mash of inspirations and references, which worked together to recall a perfectly well-rounded globe-trotter: think luxe Eastern European shearlings, Kutch Banjara fabrics, Moroccan rug-patterened dresses, classic sailor garb mixed together with Altuzarra's signature Parisian-inspired frocks.
