Newt Gingrich's Wives: A Cheat Sheet
By Abby Schreiber
With news out today that Republican candidate Newt Gingrich's second wife, Marianne, gave an interview to ABC's Nightline (airing tonight!) that could "end his career," PAPERMAG decided to take a closer look at the Wives Of Newt and compare their vital stats.

Jackie Battley: Wive #1
How They Met: Jackie was Newt's high school geometry teacher and they allegedly slept together when he was as young as 16.
Ages at Marriage: Newt: 19 Jackie: 26
Profession(s): Teacher
Notable Facts: As has been in the press, Newt supposedly initiated divorce proceedings with Battley as she was recovering from cancer surgery. They divorced in 1981 and six months later he married wife #2, Marianne Ginther, with whom he'd been carrying on an affair.

Wife #2: Marianne Ginther Gingrich
How They Met: The two met at a political fundraiser in Ohio in 1980.
Ages at Marriage: Newt: 38 Marianne: 28
Profession(s): Personnel Clerk with the Secret Service, County Planner, Business Consultant
Notable Facts: In a slightly ironic twist given their own inauspicious marital beginnings, Newt told Marianne he wanted a divorce over the telephone shortly after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. They divorced in 1999 and later, in 2000, Gingrich married wife #3, Callista Bisek, with whom he'd been having a six-year affair.
Wife #3: Callista Bisek Gingrich
How They Met: They met while Callista was a Congressional Aide
Ages at Marriage: Newt: 57 Callista: 34
Profession(s): Congressional Aide, Clerk with the House Agriculture Committee, Producer
Notable Facts: Her pet name is "Cally Lou" and she plays the French horn.
So what's to be learned here?
1) There's more than likely a wife number 4 in the wings. A sad french horn toot to you, Callista!
2) Politicians will never stop deluding themselves into thinking that if they have skeletons in their closet, or, in this case, a disgruntled ex-wife, they won't come out. They will always come out. Please let this be the beginning of a long string of mistresses to emerge for Gingrich! We're going to need someone new to laugh at now that Perry's done.
3) Newt might be out of the race soon.

If Newt Gingrich is the GOP nominee, I will be campaigning for Barack Obama. I am a moderate Republican.

So America we get rid of who had alleged affairs and the women proclaimed sexually active affairs and then we are going to let a man who changes wife's likes he does his bed sheets. OK truth is this man had affairs while he was married and again I repeat myself he had affairs while he was married. Now you want him as a President,I don't think so. This man is not trust worthy and would I trust him in a time of real world affairs,no would be my answer. People lets face it, once a cheater always a cheater. This man needs anything but to be President. The first thing that goes wrong and he is going to cover it up and use who ever he can find to hide his dirty worlds. So who is he going to find on the voting trail this time in 2012, well maybe another a little town in Ohio who has what another little intern who will be wife number 4. Do not bash the wife who have to give up their life for politics Marianne told the truth this man wanted an open marriage. I do not care how you list it open marriage is still open marriage and last I looked on the legal books the law states you can not be married and have sex with other women, sorry it don't work that way and where in the marriage vow is it listed to have an open marriage, gee I must of missed that one somewhere when I took my wedding vows. So again do you really want him in charge of your everyday money, kids lifes, your retirement, and your life. I say NO DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS CHEATER HE WILL CHEAT YOU RIGHT OUT OF YOUR RIGHTS, Wake up America.

Can this man please get out of politics? Please!
S.C. Americans prefer this hypocritical 'Catholic' chronic adulterer over the other candidates. Really??

This country is such bad economic shape I'm willing to look past the fact that he's had multiple wives (not at once, of course). We've already had a monogamous "family man" ruin the economy- let's get a critical mind in the White House. Everyone knows Newt's the smartest man in the room- if his many marriages are the only things bringing him down, so be it. Newt 2012!!!
P.S. My sister plays the French Horn. Cheers, Callista!
