Taio Cruz, the self proclaimed "Karl Lagerfeld of Pop Music, recently told us: "I'm obsessed with Chanel, and am definitely an all black and white type of guy." The British pop star's dance hits are anything but monotone: You may know a little song of called "Dynamite," as well as "Break Your Heart," not to mention his most recent chart-topping singles, "Hangover" and "Troublemaker" off of his newly-released, star-studded album TY.O. Following his appearance New Year's Rockin' Eve with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, we chatted with Mr. Cruz on everything from sexting, the ultimate "bad girl" and his thoughts on collaborating with Taylor Swift.Do you have a good luck charm?
My sunglasses. They make every situation better.
I noticed your glasses and your watch are both from your fashion line RXTR. How would you describe your brand?
I wanted to create something easy going; something you could wear anywhere. I want to bridge the gap from aspirational to accessible, by providing the highest quality and using smart design with good prices.
Since you did the song "Dirty Picture" with Ke$ha, what's your stance on sexting?
Just like with any new medium of communication you have to learn to adapt. I think it's a new fun way to flirt.
What was it like working with David Guetta on "Little Bad Girl"? This is my fourth or fifth single I've worked on with David, and every one of them has turned out amazing. He is up at 7 a.m. and stays in the studio all night. He's a workaholic and he is one of the most positive guys I've worked with.
Who do you think is a "Bad Girl"?
Nicki Minaj is the baddest of all the girls. It's hard though because Rihanna has a lot of swag, but in the bad department Nicki beats her.
Who would be fun to do a duet with?
Taylor Swift would be fun. She's a good writer and with a well-produced track and some heavy guitar, we could do something like a new version of "Party in the USA."
Do you have any advice for your fans?
Classy stands the test of time, don't follow trends.
And what to do in London?
Grab a drink at whiskey mist at the Baglioni Hotel, and a Byron burger.
