Out now on a Blu-ray/DVD combo is the uncensored director's cut of Intruder (Synapse). This enjoyably grisly 1987 slasher movie is set in a supermarket, where a late crew doing inventory comes under attack from a mysterious killer. Though it's reached cult status, the film's had a troubled history. Directed by Scott Spiegel and co-starring future Evil Dead and Spiderman director Sam Raimi, this was heavily cut before its release. Most of the outrageous gore effects were missing and sub-par DVD releases since have been disappointing. This edition, however, looks spectacular. The cast including Rene Estevez, David Byrnes, Elizabeth Cox, Ted Raimi with cameos by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) and Lawrence Bender (producer of Pulp Fiction) as cops. This digital restoration includes a ton of extras as well as the short film Night Crew which was the inspiration for this splatter great.
