Hanson's Musical Ride Tour Diary
By Taylor Hanson
The Musical Ride Tour has been a great one. It's hard to believe that we're almost wrapped with yet another trek across the US of A. The fall tour also ushers into two anniversaries for our band in 2012 -- the 15th anniversary of our first major release,
Middle Of Nowhere, and the 20th anniversary of our first show. Considering the
many ups and downs of the last 20 years, this latest tour has been
smooth sailing.
Each night throughout the tour, fans have gone onto hanson.net and cast their votes for what album from our five official releases we should feature each night, and it has kept us on our toes musically. To deliver the winning album each night, we have to be ready to play at least 67 songs at any time. It takes a bit of extra attention to remember all of the ins and outs of the countless tunes from these albums, some of which we rarely play live.
For this blog, I'm falling back on the solid tradition of black and white, which I had a bit of fun with earlier this year during our first London trip of 2011. For this round of images there's a lot of Midwest and East Coast scenery, from the stage at the rock 'n' roll TLA theater in Philly, to the main streets of Chicago, where a giant statue of Marilyn Monroe in her iconic pose from The Seven Year Itch is getting more than her fair share of publicity on the Windy City's famous Magnificent Mile thoroughfare.
There's a few guest appearances in this photo gallery as well. One is of me with PAPER's one and only Mr. Mickey Boardman during his birthday bash in October, which I was so glad to have been in New York for. Another is of our new friend, the fantastic Charlie Mars, who has been out with us for this second round of the tour and can be seen here surrounded by swirling bus light. There's also a guest snap of our friend Matt Kearney during a VH1 Save the Music event last week. Our wandering is about to take us to Latin America and then on to Europe for more escapades, it should be good times and will most definitely produce some good ocular stimulation, whether on stage or en route to the next destination. I hope you enjoy the pics. To everyone who has joined us on the Musical Ride Tour, thank you so much for coming along for the ride -- you are amazing.
Enjoy,
Taylor H

Check out the men's restroom in Nacona, Texas at their local Dairy Queen. Marylin Monroe has quite a presence there that might rival Chicago!

Thank you so much for sharing your photos, they are beautiful! I had so much fun at your show this year (just as much as all the years before), but this year was extra special because you did all the songs from "Middle Of Nowhere". It brought me back to when I was 12, the night was awesome to say the least! Can't wait til next time you come to Minnesota! Enjoy the rest of your tour, be safe and God Bless!

You guys are amazing! Saw your show in St Pete last weekend, and it was incredible. Can't believe I have been seeing you guys tour for 14 years now! I love your music just the same at 26 as I did at 12. I don't know how you guys come up with so many amazing songs.. but your music makes me feel something that no other music does. Thank you for continuing to make awesome music and touring. I never thought it would be any other way though. You are a huge part of my childhood, so many of my best memories from when I was young involve my sisters and cousins and I going to as many shows as we could. I got teary eyed at the St Pete show thinking about that. Best wishes always! I look forward to many more shows and memories!
