Hanson's South American Tour Diary

Since my last
installment, our little engine of rock 'n' roll has taken us through our
second continent of three to be included in this year's touring trek. For our
international run of shows on the Shout It Out World Tour, we kicked
things off way south of the U.S. border in vibrant Brazil and other parts of South and Central America. The
word vibrant is a good one to describe the experience we had visiting these countries,
as well as the attitude and feel of the photos in this latest blog, which are filled with lots of color and
spark.
This year's whirlwind
of touring was designed to get us back to many of the places outside of the U.S. that we hadn't visited in some time. With several years passed since we visited places like Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, we had to keep
expectations low for the shows, but of course our hopes were still high for a great
tour. From moment one on our arrival in Porto Alegra, Brazil, which was our first
stop in our southern journey, it was clear we were in for a great
run.
We've been
blessed to see extraordinary passion for our music from our South American fans and were greeted by many of them at the airport
in Sao Paulo and Porto Algre. What started as a nice hello with many who had come out to welcome us back, turned into a frenzied run to make it
to our vehicle as many fans hoping to get a
picture, autograph or a personal interaction made their way toward us. Throughout our trip we
were pleasantly surprised to see so many excited fans and were touched by those who were concerned that
the affection was too much. Be assured, you never have to apologize for your passion.
In
this collection of pics, I tried to capture some of the rich colors
and scenes we experienced along the way, from our amazing meals in Brazil, Chile and Argentina to cultural
landmarks like Santiago's San Cristóbal Hill, where
we saw incredible views of the whole city. There were also lots of great moments on stage
captured by my co-photo-enthusiast, who has contributed some of my favorite
pics to this blog taken during our shows in Sao Paulo, Mexico City and
more.
Our incredible
concerts and visits with fans in each place we have visited has felt
like a great adventure. No matter how many times I step onto another
plane, or sort through a new currency in my pocket, or walk through an
outside mall in a new land, I am lifted by the reminder that somehow
music means something to people no matter where they are in the world. I
know that to be true because of my own affection for the songs I know, the artists that created melodies and rhythm
that I feel are my own. Somewhere along the way we started doing
something that allowed us to be that for a few, and sometimes for
many, in different lands.
I hope you enjoy a
few snapshots from the colorful places and people seen along
this latest portion of the journey. You will see fans in fast pursuit of
our next location, hanging from cabs and windows, scenic views, some
stage excitement and all the little moments that make up the day, like a simple
cup of coffee on a morning in Buenos Aires.

Hello again! I actually sit around and wait for these blogs. Well in between living. Ha.
That picture - top far right - GORGEOUS! I'll assume it's a sunset? My goodness the colors are just perfect or at least colors that move me.
Love them all but I have to point out the one where you're in the midst of the mannequins. Wonderful! Can't wait for the next installment.

anyway thanks for sharing them,I think I'm in one of the pics... :) I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Southamerica... this mean you should come down here more often.
we loved the shows. I traveled with my friend to Buenos Aires and we get to meet with other friends from Argentina and Uruguay as well, what an incredible experience... then we flew back to Chile and we also spent wonderful moments in the show you guys played my country.
anyway thank u so much for your music. the pictures are awesome and hopefully we'll see you in a 5of5 maybe in Brazil? hahaha

Tay, it´s so amazing to know that you really care for us, your fans, and that your experience in Brazil was nice! I was at both airports (Porto Alegre, when you guys arrived in Brazil and when you went to Sao Paulo - I took the same flight as you did, lol!) and I can say that I´ve been waiting to know you in person for 14 years... And you couldn´t be better than anything that I have imagined! A friend of mine made a video of us talking at Sao Paulo airport, and I would really be THANKFUL if you watched that. I'm really greatful because you came back to Brazil after long six years. And I'm really happy to know you had fun and nice moments.

Really cool pics! We had an amazing time with u guys here in Brazil...I think Zac was a bit scared since he said that brazilians are "strong" so many times lol but in our defense (although I think they're too much sometimes)the girls only go crAZY like that cause u guys took a lot of time to come back, hoping u really can come back soon...or hoping that I can go to USA next year if u guys decide to do something special for ur 15's :)Let us know in advance so we can be prepared $$$$$$ !
Oh before I forget....Facing the Blank Page is awesomeeeeee! I am in love with that album, listening to it every single day!

Love these photos! Taylor has such a great eye and captures some really beautiful shots. I look forward to these photo blogs and am so glad they have continued to come since Paper started running them over a year ago! Thanks to both them and of course to Taylor for sharing these shots and letting us journey with the band from time to time.

I confess i was one of those who were concerned about the excess of affection outside the stage! But i also was so amazed about the passion in the concert. People singing outloud and everybody so excited. It was contagious. The concert i went in Porto Alegre killed it! Everybody singing "Save Me" was thrilling!
Very good to know your opinion about the "passion" here, and very nice to know your interpretation of it. I'm delighted with your respectful behave and ability to look out and put yourself into the other side of the story and just being thankful for what you got. And of course your gentleness in expressing it to anyone who might have been concerned about that.
Loved the description about how music touches people and how people take certain melodies, rythms and also lyrics for their own! So true.
You're amazing.

I don’t know what to say, I’m astounded… the photos are beautiful, the colors, perspective and relevance you give to things, for some people this might be “just a picture” but to others it’s as if we’re present in each and every one of them.
I must confess I had to chastise myself because I didn’t remember how my beloved Santiago looked like from San Cristobal Hill, that was great!
Each landscape is a gift from God that we sometimes take for granted and don’t know how to appreciate until someone else comes and admires it.

I went to the show in Sao Paulo, that was the best of my life... Unfortunately wouldn't let me came in with my professional camera, so I couldn't shoot. I hope you come back soon (next year).

i flew from fortaleza (you can see on the map in the picture from the plane) to são paulo to see you guys after 11 years (i went to the rio concert in 2000, when i was 15!). i just can tell how happy i feel about you guys, for holding on, for showing you growing love for music, for being so true to yourselfs. it really really really feels my heart and soul (with the roots of rock'n'roll). best wishes. always.

Hanson was part of my adolescence, now as an adult I continue to admire the work you guys these photos only show his humility as a wonderful human beings that são.Sensibilidade is the word that defines them, see the essence of all the details is what we should all do! This is when I feel so proud of being a Hanson fan. A real artist is the one who actually cares about the fans. So you don't ever worry about it. You've been doing it right since forever.

I went to see you in Porto Alegre in the year 2001... I'm from Uruguay, a place that is forgotten most of the time... That is pretty obvious cause we`re just 3 million in the hole country!

I live in Chile but Im actually British. I really admire you guys that you dont only go to other countries to play, but you actually admire the places you go to and you show us your fans and you have some respect and interest in our own countries. So many bands come here to Chile and they onlly stay in the hotel and dont even go for a walk to see a bit of the country. We fans apreciate that Hanson brothers have some interest in other countries, we feel that you´re trying to understand us your fans and by that you create a conection with us, maybe thats why we have such a passion for you guys, cos its like we were friends. You are not somebody remote, sb we cant see or toutch, you actually get close to use and are very friendly.
I love you guys for that, forever. I hope you will keep playing and maybe one day you´ll have as many fans as Mettalica lol

My name is Marcela Galinski'm from São Paulo and was on the show, you guys threw a shirt with the flag of Brazil and with the photo of you in the middle and some written in pen, I was right in front of Isaac, I was the first in the grid, it was the whole damn show, even with so many people crushing me, who passed out the top because they were going bad ... But it was worth every second and do it again as many times as necessary to be near you!

Awesomw pics, the show in Buenos Aires was incredible for two reasons: 1 You guys ROCK! and 2 it was my first Hanson show ever!! And I cant't believe that after 14 years I got the chance not only to see u performing live but also to meet you at the hotel when you signed for all of us.
