Late Friday night, word came down the pipe that Vockah Redu was playing a 3:30 a.m. set at an after-hours spot in East Williamsburg (which, by 5 a.m., was packed with hundreds of people). Traditionally, this New Orleans-based act is grouped with the sissy bounce genre, but Vockah, in a tool room serving as a backstage area/talent green room, told us he prefers not to be categorized as such. That noted, one similarity between Vockah Redu and sissy bounce stars like Big Freedia is undeniable: the central importance is ass, in the air. Lots of photos to support this point above.
