
1. There's lots of music festival news to report today including the upcoming Pitchfork "FORMS" fest coming to NYC from February 1 to 4, 2012. Rather than copying their successful Chicago big-outdoor format, they plan to incorporate music, visual arts, video games etc. into numerous venues and art galleries throughout the city. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
2. Two festivals are happening this weekend including a FREE event at Pier A in Hoboken, New Jersey, on Sunday, October 16, 12 to 10 p.m. sponsored by the Hoboken magazine hMAG and featuring The Walkmen, School of Seven Bells, 7 Mornings, The Kickdrums, Wormburner, Kangaroo Jones, Helloradio and more. 3. And also the annual Royal Flush film and music festival that runs all weekend through October 17 and launches tomorrow night with Kaiju Big Battle at Warsaw (261 Driggs, Williamsburg) and ends on Monday with return of 90s East Village indie rock band Lotion at the Knitting Factory (361 Metropolitan Avenue, Williamsburg). 4. The Metropolitan Museum's (1000 Fifth Avenue) spring 2012 Costume Institute exhibition will honor Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. The show runs from May 10 to August 19, 2012.

6. Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei ranks #1 on ArtReview's new list of the most powerful people in the art world. Larry Gagosian is #4 and Cindy Sherman is #7.

8. RxArt will host a Pop-Up Shop from November 4th-6th at 208 Forsyth Street. The non-profit, which places art in hospitals, will have art for sale by Will Cotton, Todd Eberle, Chris Johanson, Odilon Redon, Haim Steinbach, William Wegman, Matthew Brannon and Lawrence Weiner among others. Both volumes of their coloring books will be for sale as well as puzzles by Terry Richardson and Dan Colen.
