Word of Mouth

We've long had a soft spot in our heart for the New York-based Red Bucket Films --  a collective of writers, directors, cinematographers, art directors and actors with a knack for capturing loveliness in otherwise unremarkable, every day moments of life in a city. (As Red Bucket's Alex Kalman put it back in a 2008 PAPER profile, all RBF members, "get extreme pleasure outof standing on the corner and looking at people.") Tonight, the collective --  who've produced tons of short films and two feature-lengths including The Pleasure of Being Robbed and the heartbreaking Daddy Longlegs -- are presenting a program of short works at the BMW Guggenheim Lab, including Buttons and their newer short, John's Gone. Kalman, who's also behind awesome video mapping website MyBlockNYC (who share their favorite street videos every Tuesday on PAPERMAG), tells us that tonight's presentation, "will be a smorgasbord of short films that are all somewhat about the city and anarchy, to a certain extent. It should be a very very fun trip in a crazy world of Red bucket Films." We can't wait.

P.S. Buttons is also showing at Brooklyn's reRun theater starting today through September 8th. Tickets and showtimes here.

Guggenheim BMW Lab, Houston Street and Second Avenue. 7 p.m.-9 p.m. FREE.
