With just one season under their belt, the design duo behind NAHM, Nary Manivong and Ally Hilfiger, have managed to keep up the hype for their budding brand's S/S '12 collection on high volume. They've garnered favorable buzz with a critically-acclaimed documentary based on Nary's rise from homeless Crips member to New York fashion darling, and, of course, the "Rich Girl" allure of Tommy's spawn, Ally. But, that's not all: the fashion upstart makes a hell of a shirtdress, for which they've received many an accolade. Before they present their latest collection next week, we had a chance to chat with the duo.Marcus Holmlund: So what can we expect from NAHM this time around?
NAHM: Our girl wants to feel fresher and spunkier for Spring -- expect color and prints.
MH: It's only your second season in the game. How do you guys feel prior to presenting?
NAHM: We're running on adrenalin, so, it feels great once we see everything in its place.
MH: Is there anything specific you guys like to do post-show... other than party?
NAHM: Pack up and sleep!
MH: Any album or artist you'd like to thank for getting you through this collection?
NAHM: Lil Wayne and Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album.
MH: All in all, how many people have worked on this collection?
NAHM: We both design the collection together, but, between pattern makers, sewers, and assistants, probably about 15 people altogether.
MH: If you could choose any company or public figure to collaborate with or dress in the future, who would that be?
NAHM: Heritage brands like Brooks Brothers and Woody Allen.
