It was all about strategy--some, such as Alexander Skarsgard, agreed with our approach (and Brad's). "There's just too many people," the sexy vampire coolly stated as he glided towards the door. Others, like Sanaa Lathan and Johan Lindeberg worked against the flow, squeezing their way into the glittering gold space. It was apparent people's patience had worn thin -- two partygoers (one far more inebriated and grating then the other) nearly got into a fistfight, and the Clarins heiresses just about knocked us over as they made their way past the DJ booth. Who knew such skinny girls could be so strong!
Some were able to make themselves comfortable -- Waris Ahluwalia nonchalantly leaned against a rail as he spoke with two beautiful women, not letting the well- dressed mob deter the designer from his typical routine. Meanwhile, Le Bain began to fill up with those too claustrophobic to bare the seemingly over-capacity Boom Boom Room. Andre Balzas stood in the hallway between the two bars and welcomed friends (including Marc Jacobs' on-again off-again boyfriend Lorenzo Martone), and a wide-eyed Lindsay Wixon wandered the edges of the indoor hot tub, a la Alice In Wonderland (enormous blue bow included).
Though New York fashion week has barely begun, sometimes cutting out early is the best thing to do when things are a little too too. We need to save our energy for the next 10 days of similar, inevitably-packed-to-the-gills parties as it is. Until next (less crowded) time, Boom Boom Room.
