Out now on DVD and Blu-ray is the moody, intriguing, indie chiller A Horrible Way To Die (Anchor Bay). In director Adam Wingard's uniquely twisted tale, feared serial killer Garrick Turrell (AJ Bowen) has escaped from custody and is cutting a deadly path across the country. His old girlfriend Sarah (an excellent Amy Seimetz) is a recovering alcoholic and trying to forge a new life for herself, even with a shy man she meets at one of her AA meetings (Joe Swanberg). But little does she know Garrick is headed her way. There is a malicious twist towards the end that really made me love this film, although the jittery camerawork and blurry fade-outs were at times distracting. But the cast is just wonderful and it really feels like a Sundance low budget "relationship" film that subversively pulls out the rug from it's audience at the end.
