Gloria Swanson is perhaps the biggest Hollywood glamour-puss ever. A silent screen goddess and legendary style icon, Gloria made a huge comeback in the 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard. Queen Kelly, however, was her legendary flop. Co-produced by her lover Joseph P. Kennedy (father of JFK) and directed by Erich Von Stroheim (who later played her butler in Sunset Boulevard). Von Stroheim was a mad genius but was also a basket case who couldn't keep it together and Queen Kelly ultimately spiraled out of control. Eventually the plug was pulled all together, though you can now get a hacked-together version on DVD. Here is Gloria introducing a TV presentation of the doomed film. How GORGEOUS and chic is she???
