PAPER
Word of Mouth
We had a feeling we'd be hearing a lot more Louisiana quintet Givers after they treated the PAPER staff to an acoustic concert in our kitchen a couple of months ago. Sure enough their album, In Light, is shaping up to be one of the most notable of the summer for its effervescent, tropical-tinged sound. Here, Givers vocalist/percussionist Tiffany Lamson tells us about their (very warm) jaunt to Philadelphia.

We just landed in Lafayette after playing the XPoNential Festival in Camden right across the river from the sky-scraping sights of downtown Philadelphia. With temperatures at a mild 105 degrees, you can imagine the energy it pulled out of us. Mostly, it was yanked out of our boy Kirby who busted two drums by the fifth song... the backline guys weren't impressed but it was a good time for us.

The stage we played on was located right in front of a stunning pier, loaded with boats hosting the occasional white linen party. Pretty much any venue near water is graciously welcomed by me.

After a long night of curiously walking around the fest grounds, meeting some polite Philly fans, and eating some bad-ass tacos, we passed out. The next morning it was off to the airport, where we headed home. Aaron took a sweet airplane picture en route from Tampa to NOLA.
