Brooklyn Winery's doors have been open since October, but only this week did they release their first bottling with a bang up bash to celebrate. A little band of 1920s costumed musicians serenaded guests drinking crisp and fragrant New York chardonnay, while a cover band lilted Simple Minds and Rhianna to others sampling juicy, grapey pinot noir. Though a winery, the space has multiple personalities with a full wine bar and dinner menu, several nooks for getting cozy over Riedel stemware and an outdoor courtyard for summer evening lingering. Here's what we recommend drinking this summer at Brooklyn Winery.2010 California Chardonnay: Often big and out of control, California chard can get a bad rap. Brooklyn Winery, however, has tamed theirs with stainless steel vatting resulting in a bone-dry, super-crisp example of what decent chardonnay should be. Drink it alongside one of the kitchen's beautiful green salads or a crostini with goat cheese and grapes.
2010 California Pinot Noir: A bright and splashy wine, BK Winery's pinot noir is totally fruit-forward with the juice bomb taste of grapes at the end of a hot August. Drink it with the meat board out in the courtyard on trivia night.
Speaking of trivia night, they're doing one every other Tuesday, which will definitely include puzzlers on wine. The winning team gets a bar tab, so it'd be best to brush up with a blind tasting or two before showing up. Expect live music on Fridays and board games on Mondays, but they're nice enough to break games out any night of the week upon request. Watch your wine glass around Jenga.
