Ex-couple Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda were in the midst of a bad breakup when they decided to air out their troubles with a roadtrip up and down the California coast in a radio-less El Camino. A few folky songs recorded on an iPhone during the trip led to a demo falling into the hands of LA-based producer/DJ Skeet Skeet, and the band DWNTWN was born. The dreamscape video for their first single "Transition" was shot in L.A and directed by the band themselves, using a pretty backdrop of streets, surf, and sun flares. Their mixtape "Midnight Ride" will be out just in time for summer and features more of their melodic synthy-pop sound and a few cool covers, the perfect soundtrack for any of your future road trips.
