On the second day of the Bonnaroo Music Festival, my friend and I noticed that a lot of people were sleeping all over the festival grounds -- on blankets, in the grass, on dirt. Was it the heat? The weed? Lack of sleep at the campgrounds? I'm really not sure but they were knocked out all over the place. It seemed very odd at first and then I think we just got used to it!
If I had to choose a favorite performance from the second day it would have to be Matt and Kim. They charged onto the stage to the theme song from "Rocky" and carried that intensity through their set. Kim seemed humbled by the colossal turnout and the overall feeling was very communal and love-your-neighborish. This was definitely a feel-good show.
Throughout the course of the day I saw several other performances, including Ray LaMontagne, The Decemberists and Arcade Fire. There was something very special about seeing Arcade Fire play to such a monolithic crowd. From where I was standing I couldn't see where the sea of people ended. It was beautiful.
