subwayread-2.jpg1.  New Yorkers better start reading more.  Amazon just released their list of the "most well-read cities" in the USA and NYC failed to make the top 20.  Cambridge, Massachusetts, came in at #1, Miami #6 and Atlanta #20. We'll be reading War and Peace over the weekend.

3. Hotelier Ian Schrager and his partner, Marriott International, are being sued by the Waikiki, owners of the first hotel opened under the Edition Hotels brand.  The owners claim that the hotel is a "virtual ghost town" with only 30 percent occupancy and has been plagued by "construction and cost overruns."

4. The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (307 West 26th Street) is having a Memorial Day Clambake-themed show on Monday, May 30 at 9:30 p.m., hosted by The Brooks Brothers (PAPER's own Alex Scordelis and Chris Schell) and featuring Julie Klausner, Anthony Atamanuik, John Gemberling and Charlie Todd.

5. Jay-Z's 40/40 Club (6 West 25th Street) is closing for the summer fora  $10 million renovation.
